Kids Can Stay Healthy All Summer Long

The aftermath of our terrible fires is not really an aftermath—families are still struggling to find housing, there are efforts to rebuild, and communities have been torn apart.

These are all significant problems. But studies show that the impact has has a major effect on the younger demographic, many of whom were caught up in the whirlwind or the struggles after.

They have suffered the most, with some saying they can’t even walk down a firewood aisle at their local market.

Fortunately there are solutions out there. One is a free summer pass to Planet Fitness. Yes, I said free! This super-generous act is in its third year and is available to teens from 14 to 19 with the goal of improving physical and mental health all summer long (it ends August 31).

The stated mission is to keep high school students active in a fun, safe, and judgement free zone.

To that effect, Planet Fitness

Offers gym classes and hydro-massage, but much more. The mental aspect is key, as teenagers can find new friends, and encouragement from trained coaches.

The CDC has found that even a moderate workout can improve mental heath including less anxiety, depression, and better sleep. Perfect for this younger, stressed-out generation.

There should be a Planet Fitness near you, from Medford to Milwaukee.

Take advantage of this offer if you have a teen or teens. Peer bonding and engagement, and encouraging teachers beats a summer on the couch and might just be a great self-starter. Feelings of isolation and loneliness are just a crucial added benefit.

Start today, all teens need is the impetus to walk through that door, with your support of course!
